Yesterday, after a weekend of supplement delivery snafus and celebrating the Boston Marathon, I finally started the Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox. Overall, Day 1 was great. Going gluten- and dairy-free a few weeks ago has helped avoid the cravings, though taking the fiber supplements before each meal means I’m not ever experiencing crazy hunger pangs. Plus, the food is pretty tasty thus far. I started the morning with Dr. Hyman’s whole food protein shake, which, if you’re used to dairy-heavy, mostly-fruit shakes, it’s going to be a little tart. I actually love it, and had it again this morning. It’s more protein than I’ve ever put in a blender (I normally make green juice), it doesn’t contain any powders or fake stuff. Lunch & dinner were from the Adventure Plan, an option for more creative recipes for those who enjoy cooking. Turkey meatballs with kale & cabbage slaw for lunch, and tofu coconut curry over vegetables for dinner. Loved lunch; I think a cauliflower “rice” would have benefited the curry, along with marinating and baking the tofu first. The hardest part for me is taking all the supplements– 9 with breakfast, one at lunch, and 8 with dinner (per the Advanced Plan quiz result). I’m normally forgetful, so I got a pill organizer that can hold them all. The PGX fiber is strange; it doesn’t dissolve into water, and instead forms a gel-like coating similar to a chia seed. But it’s not the worst thing in the world, and it seems to be helping. I enjoyed my first UltraDetox bath. I can count the number of baths I’ve taken in my apartment (which I’ve been in for 8 years) on one hand, so it felt luxurious and relaxing… until I realized my tub was leaking around one of the fixtures. So it looks like I’m making a trip to the hardware store for some caulk today before my next bath time. What are your favorite ways to detox?
